Overview
A short paragraph that provides context about the job within the larger crew hierarchy and its importance to the success of the production. Include some of the key responsibilities, to create a quick sketch of what this crew position does.
Pre-Production
The description of responsibilities can be in the form of prose paragraphs of as a checklist. Think carefully about how to organize the content into small chunks with meaningful subheadings—rather than as one long list (which becomes hard to parse). Try not to exceed five or six bullet-points per subsection. For example…
Paperwork
- Get all the Crew Deal Memos signed.
- Prepare copies of all the paperwork needed on set.
- Make a map from the film school to the locations, both visual and written instructions.
- Make a Call Sheet and distribute it by 5pm the day before all shooting days.
Production Prep
- Assist 1st AD coordinate the Tech Scout.
- Establish where the restrooms, parking, staging, base camp and set will be.
- Attend the Equipment Check, Tech Scout, and Production Meeting, and sign the crew in and out using the Production iPad.
- Arrange for and secure volunteer Stand-ins / PAs / Extras.
Production Days
Use this section as a place to describe the run of the day for the crew position. Bear in mind that we may need alternate variations for BFA shows with less people/equipment. Use the subheadings below to keep a consistency across all the job description pages.
